We crossed the Kenai Peninsula and spent a few days on the west coast, in Ninilchik. This does not face the open Pacific, but the Cook Inlet. On a clear day, you can see tall volcanoes on the far side. We did more fishing here, including a guided trip to the Anchor Point River where we all caught Dolly Varden on fly rods.
Funky salmon sign made from recycled soda bottles reflects the feeling of the area. I liked it.
Most people come here to go out to sea to catch halibut, as this successful family did.
Launching boats via tractor across the beach was new to me.
Jonathan playing a fish on a fly rod.
Matthew casting in the hip boots provided by the guides.
My fishing with a view of a volcanoe.
I snagged this fish and found how hard they can fight when not caught in the mouth.
View of a boat on the inlet with a mountain in the distance.
An interesting roof line with mountain.
A home in Ninilchik, and the clouds obscuring the mountains.
The boys fishing in the Homer fishing hole where the confused salmon go in circles for lack of real stream.
Maxine outside the bakery in Holmes where we ate lunch.

You’ve posted some really great pictures Barney. I’m happy to see you guys in short sleeve shirts – that means you’re having snippets of nice weather up there. You sure missed a gully-washer rain here in Ramona yesterday. But the sun is out here now and the humidity has hit big time, ugh. Take care.
