We stayed 4 nights at Yellowstone Holiday RV Park and Marina. This park has a boat launch, small marina with boat slips, as well as cabins and RV sites. It is about 15 miles northwest of West Yellowstone making it close enough to the park to make for easy access, but far enough away to avoid the growing tourist infestation that is West Yellowstone. The RV park is on the north shore of Lake Hebgen which is formed by a dam on the Madison River. Just to the north east is the Gallatin River, so it is located between 2 excellent trout fishing rivers where I had a great time.
We stopped for lunch at this spot on the Gallatin River.
This is the Yellowstone Holiday RV Park from the jetty around their marina.
The nicest thing in West Yellowstone is the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center where they care for several grizzlies.
This is Kobuk, who is a big boy.
Here are some wolves, one doing what wolves do.
They have a couple skeletons on display indoors.
Smoky sunrise over the Madison River at 3 Dollar Bridge.
I caught my first brown trout that morning.
While taking a break and tying knots, these ducks came along.
Later that afternoon we drove into the park and stopped at Gibbon Falls.
Above the falls, the Gibbon River flows through this meadow.
Maxine at the Norris Geyser Basin.
I hired a guide for a wading trip on the Gallatin and he showed me a nice wide and quiet spot.
This is a Cuttbow that Adam is pointing out the mix of Cutthroat and Rainbow traits.
Smoky-sky sunset at the marina.
Ghost village on the Madison River between Hebgen and Earthquake Lakes.
